We have just 3 weeks to ensure the Security Council monitors human rights in Western Sahara! Last year France was the only member of the Security Council to block it.
Last year, thanks to our campaigning France was put in a very difficult position; they sat alone in opposition to human rights. But it was not enough. Over the next few weeks, if we can expose France’s actions we can build enough pressure to force them to back down!
This month's Analysis (see the Monthly newsletter page) focuses on all the fantastic actions being taken internationally for this campaign. In these coming weeks we need all the support we can get and there are still a large number of Security Council member countries where no action has yet been taken. We urgently need support for the following actions:
· As many organisations and individuals as possible to swamp the Security Council with letters, demanding that MINURSO monitors human rights in Western Sahara. TAKE ACTION HERE!
· People to phone the UN missions to really have an impact. Contact: the Columbian mission (current President) and French missions to the UN
· Join our demonstration at on April the 20th outside the French Embassy London – please contact us for further details
Please pass this on to all your contacts and spread the word to as many people as you can.
Let’s make sure this time the UN finally gets the message!
