The campaigners were protesting the actions of the Moroccan government who expelled Ms Haidar from her homeland for failing to recognise Moroccan sovereignty.Ms Haidar is currently in Lanzerote airport on hunger strike demanding that she be allowed to return home to her children. The protesters called on the UK government to take action to help Ms Haidar.
After protesting outside Downing Street, where a delegation from the protest delivered a letter to Mr Brown from Ms Haidar, the protest moved down Whitehall to Trafalgar Square. The protesters held banners with pictures of Ms Haidar and painted their hands red to symbolise the blood on the hands of the government if they do not act to save her life.
Also lending their support to the campaign are director Ken Loach and writer Paul Laverty. Click here to read their article in The Guardian.
