Vigil for Aminatou as she reaches one month on hunger strike
Supporters held a vigil for Aminatou Haidar at St Martin's Place, near Trafalgar Square, on Monday evening. They handed out flyers to passers-by with Actions on how to support Ms Haidar's campaign.
Ms Haidar's supporters turned out on a cold and wet Monday evening to lend their support to her campaign and enlist the help of the British public to raise awareness of her situation.
They handed out flyers, with information on Actions that everyone can take to help bring pressure on the authorities to allow Ms Haidar to return home, and chatted with passers-by about her situation and the situation of her fellow Saharawis in occupied Western Sahara.
Ms Haidar has now been on hunger strike for a month after the Moroccan authorities seized her passport and expelled her from her homeland, Western Sahara.
Many celebrities have joined the calls for Ms Haidar to be allowed to return home, including Ken Loach, Lenny Henry and Brian Eno. Click here to read Brian Eno's article in The Guardian.
