Last night, Human Rights Activist Aminatou Haidar arrived home to her family in Western Sahara. A big THANK YOU to everyone who campaigned for her return and helped make this happen.
After over a month on hunger strike, international pressure and diplomatic efforts persuaded the Moroccan authorities to allow Aminatou Haidar to return to her home in Western Sahara.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Actions to help Ms Haidar - you helped make this happen.
However, there is still work to be done. There are still human rights violations being committed by the Moroccan authorities in occupied Western Sahara daily - the UN mission in Western Sahara needs to include human rights monitoring. And 7 human rights activists are still on trial on charges of treason and could face the death penalty. Ms Haidar's protest drew international attention to the terrible human rights situation in Western Sahara and we need to use this opportunity to campaign further.
Please go to Take Action for details of what you can do to help.
